Over 30 Years to Develop The MAP

Neil Schell has been in the film business for close to 40 years.  But it was in 1994 when he started to teach and coach actors while acting himself.  Through his superior, personal coaching methods he was hired in 2010 to direct an entire season of 26, half-hour episodes of TV in a row for a national network in Kenya. But he still taught actors on weekends.  

Neil went on to direct over 150 episodes of 6 different series for three different producers. All the while, he continued to coach actors.  In fact, he hasn't stopped since that day he opened his first acting school in Vancouver, Canada in April of 1994.  

The point is, Neil has coached, auditioned and directed thousands of actors.  And he's acted with and for a few of the top actors and directors working today.  He knows what works.  He has seen acting from both sides of the camera, the casting room and the classroom.  Neil has a perspective on acting like none other. 

The MAP Emerges

Over those years, Neil observed a pattern that began to emerge.  It was a pattern of successful actions that the majority of actors who actually made it to the big screen did.  Neil saw a common series of actions that those actors all did.  Whether they were conscious of it or not, they all did very similar things.  And, of course, these also aligned with the actions he took to land acting roles himself opposite such greats as Liam Neeson and Judy Davis.

What appeared to be luck for these actors (and Neil himself), was really a series of actions that when aligned, culminated in them landing roles in large budget productions and working with what we call "name actors."
